Rishon’s drawing educated started after high school upon meeting her mentor, Sheldon Borenstein. Sheldons experience in the field of animation lead her to dream of a career as an animator. That dream lead her to the Animation/Illustration program at San Jose State University where she continued learning the fundamentals of drawing and animation. She Graduated in 2010 with a BFA in Animation/Illustration.

Rishon’s late father, Michael I. Wagner, was a television writer. While working on "Star Trek: The Next Generation" he named a character after her in an episode entitled The Survivors (1989).
